In this class, students will discover the various materials, tools, and techniques associated with the art of painting faux woods and marbles. Used extensively throughout southern colonial architecture, these techniques allowed artisans and craftspeople to impart an exotic finish on local material. From her home just north of Yellowstone National Park, instructor Susann Lavold uses these techniques in her paintings and furniture pieces to highlight the beauty of natural materials.
