Reflecting the Image They Need to See
Join us for our meeting with image consultant Danietté Thomas as we reflect on loving the skin we are in. Image, how we present and what people assume about us based on their first impression can be something that we know the importance of but maybe don't have the skills to put that into practice. Danietté will be sharing with us tips, tricks and insights into us reflecting the image we want other people to see about us.
Member and photographer, Laura Skellie, will be taking member headshots at this meeting as well. She will be taking the shots for free but will appreciate tips!
About Danietté Thomas
Danietté Arionna Thomas is an image consultant/fashion designer from, and currently located, in Savannah, GA. At age 11, she was no longer required to wear uniforms, and was challenged with the task of finding clothes for school, but found it difficult to locate the clothing that she desired. A former professor piqued her interest by asking her if she planned to bring her sketches to life. Danietté was often found with printer paper and a #2 pencil after completing classwork. She and the professor engaged in a visual discussion in which she discovered that she could use fabric, patterns, and domestic sewing machines to awaken her designs. She simply fell in love with the art of her 2D illustrations, coming to life in a 3D world.
Growing up in Savannah, she was surrounded by a plethora of artistic inspirations. Danietté spent most of her high school career building a portfolio of sketches that would later become part of her application for the Savannah College of Art and Design. She tenaciously prepared herself by taking private sewing lessons from a SCAD graduate student in the Fashion Program. This quickly built her confidence in understanding how to construct her designs from start to finish.
In May of 2015, Danietté was selected to showcase her Senior Thesis Collection “Bulletproof” in the annual SCAD Fashion Show. There she was invited by the renowned fashion journalist, André Leon Talley, to attend the private after party where he gave positive commentary on her collection that would go on to be lasting inspiration as she journeyed as an indepen- dent designer. Later in May she graduated with a BFA degree in Fashion minoring in Accessories.
After filling out countless applications, and flying numerous places for interviews in an attempt to find a job in the fashion industry, she was led to start her own custom design brand.
After many inquiries from men and women seeking unique, tailored, custom clothing, in September of 2015 she founded DANIETTE.
In the Summer of 2016, she was invited to showcase as a designer in Vancouver and Atlantic City Fashion Weeks. She held her very first fashion show, “Bee Royal Runway,” in Savannah as a fund- raiser to raise funds for the collection, as well as event costs. Despite not reaching her goal, Danietté pushed herself to become a force to be reckoned with in the fashion industry.
In early 2018, Danietté was inspired to create another collection. This nontraditional collection consisted of evening wear from various categories. She stepped out of her comfort zone to create designs that were different. Late 2018 was when she was encouraged by many people to have a fashion show fundraiser, and in spite of any negativity from the past, she pushed herself to achieve many more successes throughout 2019. “Hit the Runway Fundraiser Fashion Show 2019” turned out amazing, and she raised enough money to showcase in two fashion shows during New York Fashion Week Winter 2019!
In March 2020, Danietté launched a designer mask line at the top of the pandemic, that not only worked as a pivotal movement in her career, but also worked as a community effort for the masks donated to various organizations.
In Summer of 2021, while searching for a home, Danietté came across the former Marquee Manor, available for commercial usage. With much prayer, faith, and resilience, she was able toobtain this property and establish it as House of Danietté. 4.3.22 Danietté makes history by hosting the grand opening for Savannah’s First Design house that doubles as an event venue.
House of Danietté not only services individuals seeking custom attire, but also offers styling, tailoring, and creative direction to clients.
In Fall of 2022 she launched a women’s professional brand (ARIONNA) that won Savannah’s BizPitch Competition. The brand later evolved to an image consulting firm catered to women of professional or highly visible nature.
